Mala Earth Create Beauty

Here at Mala Earth we really love to inspire authentic beauty, the kind which shines from the inside out. Read on to find out the 5 soul feeding rituals that will help you to radiate and sparkle beauty from the inside out.

1. Move your body

Practice yoga, walk, run, bike, swim, hike, surf, play a team sport etc. We all know now that by moving, your body will generate endorphins which will leave you feeling happier, and able to access joy more easily while at the same time as lowering the likelihood of depression and stress related illnesses. Also any way you can move your body with another will have the added bonus of another ingredient of inner beauty, human connection!

2. Seek human connection

Reach out with a smile or a hug. Make eye contact. Really listen! Tell those you love that you love them and really mean it. Connect with your community, chat with your barista, head to your local farmers market and get curious about what’s going on in your local community. It’s in our nature to belong so consider how to really connect to your family and community and cultivate that feeling of belonging and really being interwoven into the fabric of life.

    3. Set Aside Quiet Time Everyday

Meditation is a tool we can use to get quiet and begin to really understand ourselves. We know that Meditation reduces, stress, anger, fatigue, anxiety depression, addiction and it helps us to create more space within, moving out all of the junk (thoughts and feelings) making way for more love, joy and happiness.

    4. Enjoy the Beauty of Nature

Get out in nature! Head to the beach or out into the forest. Lay on the grass and watch the clouds float by, notice a ladybug or listen for the extraordinary sound of birds calling out to each other. Stop and get quiet to appreciate how awe-inspiring nature is, and remember, it’s in our ‘nature’ to be in nature!

    5. Practice Mindful Living

Very simply put, mindfulness is present moment awareness. This awareness allows you to find space in your experiences, you begin to observe the here and now, allowing things to be as they are without judgement or opinion of 'right' or 'wrong'. We are able to quieten the constant jumping forward to future worries, or the constant regret of reenactment of the past.

Present moment awareness resides in everything we do, from the internal; becoming an observer of our breathing, bodies, sounds, thinking processes, allowing space and letting things be. Right through to external; how we move, how we interact with technology, how you work be it for yourself, someone else or in the role of a parent or otherwise, also relationships, eating, and how we choose to establish a mindful routine.

Mala Earth we took a deep dive into Mindfulness and Mindful Living in our Mindful May series. To find out more head to the intro blog here

    Set yourself up for success!

Be accountable and create a commitment to nurturing and creating your own inner sparkle. Schedule in that a weekly yoga class. Ask a friend to go for a hike, explore joining a social sports team. Setup a space to get quiet at home and share with others what you’ve decided to do to give you the best possible chance as accessing more beauty in your life!

One personal example I can offer is that in 2014 I decided to post a daily picture of gratitude on Facebook and Instagram for six months. You see, gratitude can be found within each of our 5 tips i.e. gratitude for your healthy body, for your wonderful friends and family, for all the beauty we find in nature and for noticing what you feel grateful for as a result of mindful living.

In order to be accountable to my own happiness and I knew if I let everyone know I was doing this I would have to show up and deliver! It made for really great dinnertime conversation and friends shared how much they loved and were inspired by these daily gratitude posts.

So todays the day and if gratitude makes since as a place to start, why don't you setup a gratitude journal or take a picture of that thing you are grateful for. You will be surprised how simple things become more noticeable like a sincere hug from your partner, an easy commute to work, a gorgeous sunrise or sunset and before you know if you will truly be radiating beauty from the inside out.
