What are Rudraksha & Rudrani Seeds
What are Rudraksha Seeds
Rudraksha’s (said Rud-ruck-sha) are often referred to as beads, but are actually seeds from Rudraksha trees. These trees grow in the wild and on sustainable plantations found in the Himalayas of India and Nepal also Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
The beads grow inside what looks like a blueberry and come in a variety of sizes ranging from 4mm to 16mm, the smallest being the rarest. There are a number of naturally grown grooves on the face of the seed, these are known as Mukhi’s. The beads are strung and threaded the way they grow on the tree, this preserves the prana (energy) in each individual seed.
The Rudraksha name stems from ancient Hindu mythology meaning “the eyes of Shiva”. It is believed that Shiva, who is known as the patron for all Gods, meditated on the welfare of mankind and emerged crying tears of compassion. It was these tears that upon landing on the earth crystallised to form the Rudraksha trees.
Divine qualities of these beads were first noted in ancient Hindu scriptures and have been carried forward through the ages. These qualities are said to settle the mind, increase mental clarity, memory and general awareness, reduce stress and depression, free negative thoughts and calm the central nervous system.
The beads contain carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen which have been found to scientifically contain electromagnetic properties, medicinally healing many mind and body ailments such as heart disease and lowering blood pressure.
Rudraksha beads have been worn by Buddha, the Dalai Lama, Gandhi and many enlightened Indian Yogis. We believe that anyone can benefit from wearing these sacred pieces.
What are Rudrani Seeds
Tiny Rudrani seeds are from the Rudrani tree and are rare to find. Malas made from this seed are said to be sacred and of great spiritual importance. They are known as the most religious beads and bring good luck and abundance to the wearer. The energy of these Malas are active and embody the unknowable but universal female energy of Shakti. The positive vibration that is stored within these beads make them powerful pieces that increase the flow of positive energy in one’s life.
Coming from the ancient wisdom of Hindu Mythology, Rudrani Malas are known to be the sacred jewellery of the divine female goddess Parvati, who is a form of Shakti - the universal female energy. Parvati was actually the wife of Shiva and the mother of Ganesha too. Her life helped Shiva defeat demons and evolve from a dark, depressed God into a reborn and inspired leader of all Gods; with her help he accepted pleasure back into his life, became a patron for all of the Gods and as the Great Warrior became the Lord of Dance. Her son Ganesha is known as a loyal protector, as half human and half elephant, he is the Keeper of the Threshold and God of Good Fortune.
These many powerful qualities of Parvati are housed in the Rudrani seeds. The Rudrani Malas will help us bring forth nourishment in the midst of what might seem like rejection or disapproval. These Malas will bring you divine female energy, positive affirmation for success and loving confidence. Women will benefit by wearing or keeping this Mala close when trying to conceive a child and manifest easy birthing. The Rudrani Malas will help us see the learning in our relationships while increasing our female intuition. It is said that when we embrace love, Parvati is there to bless us - by wearing a Rudrani Mala you will hold the spirit of Parvati close!
Wearing Rudrani and Rudraksha together combines the auspicious energies of Shiva and Shakti or the Divine Mother and Father. These energies help to harmonize the energies of the husband and wife, as well as the feminine and masculine within the individual.
